This chapter focuses on Nancy Botwin, the leading female character in the award-winning series Weeds, aired on the cable network Showtime, from 2005 to 2012. Nancy is a widow and mother of two and she makes a living from selling marijuana. I intend to analyse this figure against a backdrop of two theoretical frameworks: the first one is represented by the analyses (mainly developed within Feminist Culturalist Television Criticism and Feminist Film Theory) that have engaged with the figure of the anti-heroine or, more generally, with female characters who, like Nancy, feature in traditionally male dominated media genres and/or in roles that involve utilising power, crime, violence and physical strength.
